Accountability and the Law Conference
A unique and timely conference will be held on Monday 9 February 2015 at Customs House in Brisbane.
The conference, entitled Accountability and the Law: safeguarding against corruption in Queensland, will focus on whether the integrity mechanisms in Queensland are robust enough to deal with increasing pressures for development of mineral resources.
The Hon David Ipp AO QC will give the keynote address, providing a unique insight into the ICAC investigations into corrupt dealings between NSW politicians and mining interests.
The all-day conference will also deal with the issues of political donations, the independence of the judiciary, changes to the Crime and Corruption Commission and the influence of lobbyists.
Each session will be delivered by a panel of eminent speakers, including retired judges, senior Queensland barristers and leading academics in the field of accountability.
Attendance will attract 1 CPD point per hour for both barristers and solicitors. Earlybird registration is now open and closes on Christmas eve, with the full day and evening session tickets available for $308.
From 25 Dec 2014 standard registration of $363 for the full day and evening session is available.
