Lord Ian Burnett of Maldon, the Lord Chief Justice of the United Kingdom, spoke recently (5 June 2023) at the School of Law, Economics and Governance, University of Malawi. His Honour addressed significant questions pertaining to independence and accountability of any judiciary. His answers to all of the questions posed, he reasoned, consisted in “that much celebrated but notoriously elusive concept: the rule of law”.
