Japanese law students experience Brisbane take on Australian law
Several Japanese Osaka University law students visited QCAT on 28 September 2016, as part of the QUT ‘Brisbane Seminar on Australian Law’, a two-week program on Australian law, society and culture.
The internationalisation project is a joint initiative of the QUT Law School and the Australian Network for Japanese Law (ANJeL).
The students received a comprehensive QCAT overview with a welcome from Judge Suzanne Sheridan, lecture from Dr Bridget Cullen about QCAT and our work, attending building directions hearings presided over by senior member Ian Brown, and then taking a tour of the registry.
Osaka University Professor Kota Fukui accompanied the ten visiting students with QUT associate professor Leon Wolff.
Professor Fukui has conducted previous research at VCAT, so was particularly interested in our tribunal’s role and operations.
