Camerata of St John’s

Dear Colleagues

Queensland has its own professional chamber orchestra, the Camerata of St John’s, of which I am proud to be a patron.

Camerata is a vibrant, young, unconducted string orchestra which is making a huge impression on Australia’s music-loving community.

Camerata was a key participant in the internationally renowned Australian Festival  of Chamber Music last year, and was nominated as one of the five finalists in the  ‘Best Newcomer Award’ in ABC FM’s Limelight magazine. The magazine has also included Camerata as an influential group of players to watch in the year ahead by listing them in their ‘Smart Arts 2010 Next Generation’.

Last year, Camerata performed in the Banco Court to much acclaim. On 5 March,they will ‘See you in Court — Again!’ and we will be able to enjoy fine music in the impressive setting of the Banco Court, accompanied by drinks and savouries, once more.

The event is a fundraiser for Camerata. It will enable Camerata to continue to provide a platform for our best string musicians to establish a professional career based in Brisbane. It will also allow Camerata to travel once again to the Australian Festival of Chamber Music and to expand its ability to reach Queenslanders in all parts of the State

Camerata’s new CD will be launched that evening as well.
